Ludmilla really did her usual wonderful job in setting everything up both in St. Petersburg and in Moscow and Leon and I were both thrilled that Leon’s Samchillian got so much exposure in both cities.  Of course the sightseeing was the icing on the cake and seeing the 10+ cars trains in the Moscow subway coming EVERY minute or so was quite a revelation of what can be done!

Dear Ludmilla,

Just writing to say thanks for everything.  This was not my first trip to Russia (as you know), but it was certainly the best and most rewarding.  Beyond the great programs, music events and touristic outings what made the visit truly memorable was the range of people we met.  It’s difficult to list such "intangibles" when justifying travel to supervisors, but they can be vital, and my work has already benefited from your tremendous and generous networking skills.  I also want to thank you for translating my talk—a tough job I know, and I’m afraid that due to nervousness I may have neglected to do this publicly.  Apologies, if so!  From the interesting feedback, I sensed the talk went over well.  Hope you had a pleasant return journey and are now enjoying a stressless holiday weekend.

All best,
Bret

In my opinion the library- based events went  well! The children were wonderful. Despite the complex and serious topic, children were positively accepting the message. Responded and participated actively. The speakers were great! Will you please thank the modest and touching Vivian, charming Melissa and Stephanie on my behalf? You as always were inspiring and entertaining. ….New branches are growing on the festival’s fir tree. That means that the planting was done with love.

Good luck to you in all of your endeavors!

Olga and Volodia

Dear Ludmilla Aronovna!

Thank you very much for the photos.  I recall with pleasure your festival's events in which I took part.  You are a wonderful lecturer and piano accompanist! I could have never imagined that lectures on such a difficult and grave subject as the Holocaust could be presented in such an interesting and - I could even say - entertaining way.  It was a great idea to include the schoolchildren in the process of presentation .....  It was very interesting to work with you!  Thank you!

Dear Ludmila Aronovna,

Thank you very much for your exploit!  Yes, it's an exploit - to connect people, countries and cultures based on the Russian music, literature, history and art!

It was my first experience of taking part in EBP, and maybe I was the oldest participant...But I enjoyed the communication with young musicians from St. Pertersburg and Boston and the music they performed.

I found the discussion about love and art led by three writers and art professionals from both countries so absorbing and interesting that I'm looking forward to attending the next EBP.

Good Luck, dear Mrs. Leibman!

With the warmest wishes,

Malvina Goldin,

New Bostonian from Moscow
