For me, meeting and working with Ludmilla Leibman has been among the brightest happenings of the last decade. We met in Boston in the year 2000, and I am happy to say our friendship has blossomed and our collaboration strengthened ever since. Because I have had the great pleasure to work with Ludmilla on the Educational Bridge Project festivals in St. Petersburg (2002) and Boston (2003 and 2010), I feel well qualified to comment on her work and her abilities.

If one needs assurance of the existence of "perfectionists", one needs to look no farther than Ludmilla Leibman. Everything she does has the quality of excellence! From the organization of festival programs and events, meetings and concerts, all questions are handled with the utmost attention to detail. To Ludmilla, no part of her work is trivial or banal.

Ludmilla is a superb pedagogue and lecturer; in 2001, I was present during her reception of the "Professor of the Year" award at Boston University, and heard the overwhelming praise given to her by students and colleagues. I was also fortunate enough to attend several of her lectures in Moscow.

Ludmilla is a loving daughter and mother, and a loyal friend. She supports, encourages, and inspires everyone around her. From the bottom of my heart, I wish the very best to Ludmilla and her family in all of their affairs, and I hope to continue working with Ludmilla on our common projects, which she always approaches with the highest level of professionalism.

Знакомство с Людмилой Лейбман - это одно из моих самых счастливых приобретений последнего десятилетия. Мы познакомились в Бостоне в 2000 году, и я очень рада, что наши контакты становятся крепче год от года. Я принимаю посильное участие в проведении весенних фестивалей программы «Образовательный мост», начиная с 2002 года, дважды участвовала в осенних фестивалях в Бостоне (2003 и 2010 годы), и поэтому могу судить о деятельности Людмилы, что называется, из первых рук.

Если кому-то хочется убедиться в том, что есть на свете люди, которых называют «перфекционистами», - он может познакомиться с Людмилой. Все, что она делает, она делает только «на отлично»! Касается ли это составления программы фестивалей, организации концертов и встреч, приема участников и решения самых различных вопросов - для нее мелочей не существует.

Людмила - прекрасный педагог и лектор: в 2001 году я присутствовала на церемонии вручения ей премии лучшего преподавателя года в Бостонском университете и слышала восхищенные отзывы ее студентов, я бывала не ее увлекательнейших лекциях в Москве. Она - любящая дочь и мать, она - верный друг, она поддерживает и вдохновляет всех окружающих, не сдерживая слов благодарности за все хорошее, что видит в них.

Я от всей души желаю всего самого доброго Людмиле и ее семье, успехов всем ее делам и проектам. Надеюсь на наше дальнейшее сотрудничество и постараюсь поддерживать тот высокий уровень, который она придает всему, что делает.

Людмила Ароновна, здравствуйте. С нетерпением ждем Вас в СПб. У нас очень много работы, но с Вашим приездом, мы надеемся, что отвлечемся от рабочих будней и погрузимся в атмосферу Фестиваля. Вы не поверите, но, встречая американскую делегацию, мы по-новому погружаемся в атмосферу Петербурга, т. к. в работе мы не замечаем очарование родного города. Просматривая Ваш сайт в Интернете, зашла на отзывы.
Хочется добавить туда свои записи.

Участвуя в Фестивалях, мы приобрели новых друзей, по-новому взглянули на русскую и зарубежную культуру, поняли, насколько мы похожи, и узнали, чему мы можем научиться друг у друга. Нас разделяет океан, но это не преграда. В  меняющемся мире для культур народов нет преград. Понятие "толерантность" воплощается в жизнь, как никогда. Мы должны продолжать сотрудничество. Личное общение людей объединяет народы. А общие усилия позволяют нам осуществлять самые неосуществимые проекты.

Dear Ludmila Aronovna,

We look forward to seeing you in Saint-Petersburg. We are very busy here, but hopefully your arrival will enable us to take a break from our daily matters and immerse ourselves into the atmosphere of the Festival. You probably won’t believe it, but when we receive an American delegation we ourselves start to appreciate Petersburg anew; usually, being focused on work, we just don’t notice the charm of our home city.

When checking your Internet site I saw testimonials there, and I would like to add one of my own. While taking part in the Festivals we made new friends and were able to look at Russian and American culture in a new way. We came to realize how similar we are, and found out what we can learn from each other. There is an ocean between us, but it’s not a barrier. In our changing world there can be no barriers between cultures. The concept of tolerance is being put into life like never before. We must continue our collaboration. Personal contacts between people unite whole nations. And common efforts allow us to realize even the most unrealizable projects.

Вчера получил ноты Бартока!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Но самой ценной оказалась все таки партитура с автографом и с пометками знаменитого квартета. Они пока еще не ясны на первый взгляд, но тем интереснее будет работа над этой музыкой. Передаю огромную признательность Вам и Рафаэлю Хильеру от всего нашего квартета. Спасибо!!!

The exchange program with St. Petersburg was a highlight of my musical experiences at Boston University and in Boston, which is, after all, a city of musicians.  I was always very impressed not only by the quality of people and music, but also by the imaginative ways in which exchange was organized.  It must have been extremely difficult for Dr. Leibman to secure funds for the program, yet she did it brilliantly.
